We made it through 26 hours of driving!!!! We arrived yesterday evening (May 29th) around 7:00 p.m. (9:00 central time). After we got here Jay gave us a tour of his tiny house(s). They are much more spacious than we imagined and the pictures definitely do not do it justice. We then spent the rest of the evening visiting and talking to Jay! We are currently staying in Jay’s 500 square foot house, but we will soon move to the house next door as soon as we do a little work on it!
After catching up on some much needed sleep, Jay put us to work on his new 100 square foot tiny house! This house is a prototype of a new design layout. Jay believes that as designers we need to have hands on experience in the building process and thinks this is a beneficial learning experience for us.
We began by installing insulation to the walls then helped layout and cut the flooring for the loft. Most of our afternoon was spent cutting and installing tongue and groove wood paneling along all interior walls. Tomorrow we hope to begin work on the house we will be staying in. It’s only the first day and we have already learned so much! We can’t wait to see what else is in store for us over the summer!
